Shane S. Kim
Shane S. Kim has been appointed interim chief executive officer of GameStop. He was appointed to this role in May 2018.
Shane is a member of the GameStop’s Board of Directors, a seat he has held since July 2011. He serves as a member of the company’s Audit and Compensation Committees.
Prior to this, Shane worked for Microsoft Corporation for nearly 20 years, retiring in January 2010. For the last 15 years at Microsoft, he was with the company’s Interactive Entertainment Business division, most recently as corporate vice president of Strategy and Business Development. He also served as corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Game Studios, which developed and published many of the industry’s biggest Xbox and Windows game franchises, including Halo, Gears of War, Flight Simulator and Forza Motorsport.
Upon retiring, Shane has been an independent adviser to companies in the interactive entertainment and digital media industries. He also serves as a director on the Boards of SCUF Gaming, a global leader in high-end controllers and accessories customized for hardcore and professional gamers; Innovega, an optics company that developed a patented contact lens technology with enables users to enjoy light and unobtrusive wearable digital eyewear; and the Stanford Alumni Association.
Shane holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
